With the season of giving and goodwill upon us, Memphis Athletic Ministries (MAM) is preparing for a very special holiday tradition. MAM is treating families of over 120 youth with a shopping spree on Tuesday, December 6, to help them make this an unforgettable Christmas.
The annual holiday event is made possible by community donations to the MAM Christmas Store, which is open through December 6.
“Our purpose is to change the lives of youth and families by providing hope, purpose, and joy through the gospel, so the opportunity to make Christmas fun and memorable for the youth we serve is just tremendous,” said MAM CEO Jonathan Torres. “Many of our families do not have the means to purchase gifts on their own, so we are extremely grateful for the community members and partners who help make it possible for them to personally shop for the items their children will love.”
Before the shopping begins, families will enjoy free meals from Chick-fil-A Mid-South at MAM’s four neighborhood sites. They’ll also receive a basket full of household items However, we believe the most important aspect of this tradition involves MAM staff sharing a gospel message.
The families will start their shopping spree at approximately 6 pm with a $125 gift card per child. Target is also generously providing an extra discount for every purchase. In addition to donating to the Christmas Store, staff from Evangelical Christian School (ECS) and Memphis Auto Auction will also be on hand to wrap each family’s gifts before they leave.
