Memphis Athletic Ministries

Coach. Grow. Lead.

Mission and Vision

Founded in 1998, Memphis Athletic Ministries (MAM) exists to coach, grow, and lead the youth of Memphis by helping them discover their identity in Christ and their purpose in the community. MAM’s vision is to see identity found, hope restored, and lives changed.

Core Values

    • Christ-centered, relational ministry – We model and glorify Christ in and through relationships we build.
    • Urban youth focus – We serve youth and their families in under-served neighborhoods.
    • Loving, safe, and fun environment – We create a safe haven for youth to grow and develop.
    • Holistic development programming – We build the body, mind, and spirit of our youth.
    • Godly community influence – We impact our city through the power of the gospel.

Our Approach

MAM provides year-round, Christ-centered mentoring programs with well-trained staff to youth, ages 8 to 18, at four centers located in low-income neighborhoods. This is done in partnership with families, schools, and other community organizations.

Our approach includes:

  • Attracting participation by using organized sports to draw neighborhood youth to MAM centers.
  • Creating a nurturing environment through small mentoring groups led by MAM staff to share the love of Jesus Christ and foster healthy relationships.
  • Providing comprehensive programs that address the physical, mental, social, and spiritual needs of youth.
  • Promoting community involvement by organizing community-wide sports activities in order to bring about socio-economic and racial reconciliation.
Strategic Plan

MAM Programs

MAM uses various ways to attract youth to neighborhood centers and introduce them to the life-changing power of the Gospel. Our Christ-centered programs are designed to teach life lessons and help our youth grow in their faith.
