MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – Hundreds of interns from Memphis’ largest companies teamed up for a day of service.

Friday was 901 intern volunteer day. Local 24 caught up with volunteers at Memphis Athletic Ministries. They played games and took part in summer activities with the kids.

Organizers say it’s a way to show future business leaders the importance of service to the community.

The kids, they’re the future of our city. And just to see them all coming together, the interns, to see that they want to see Memphis be a better place and the heart that they have behind coming and serving is just very encouraging,” said Jeff Cage with Memphis Athletic Ministries.

901 intern Greysen Pounders said, “You’ve got to give back to the community. I mean, I’m from here. I go to school in Knoxville, but I’m from here and I love Memphis. You just got to give back to the community.”

More than 400 summer interns from AutoZone, FedEx, First Tennessee, International Paper took part in Friday’s volunteer day.
