MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com), August 11, 2018- A former Memphis Grizzlies coach helped students stock up with school supplies.
Lionel Hollins hosted a Back to School Bash at the Memphis Athletic Ministries Grizzlies Center Saturday.
More than 400 students received school supplies, free health and dental screenings, and haircuts.
“Being here, using their facility, it just made sense for us to partner up and do it together. And, it’s a win-win for both people, the Memphis Athletic Ministries, and also for Lionel Hollins Charities, but more importantly, it’s a win for the kids,” said Hollins.
“Oh, my heart is full right now. Ton of joy seeing these kids, their families come in and get physicals and get the needed services that they so desperately need, but in this environment so we can just love on them and we can all be excited about school starting back,” said Randy Odom of the Memphis Athletic Ministries.
Kids were also given information on sports leagues around the city.
