“And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord who has enabled me, because He counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry, although I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man; but I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. And the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant, with faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.” 1 Timothy 1:12-14
Paul conveyed his heart of humility and thankfulness that God would count him faithful for ministry work and responsibility. He realized however that his attainment was none of his own. In verse 13 Paul testified that he blasphemed, persecuted and oppressed the church. He calls himself an insolent, rude and disorderly man. In spite of all this, he obtained mercy because of his ignorance and unbelief. It was the exceeding abundant Grace of God that kept Paul when He didn’t even know it. As I read Paul’s testimony I could not help but to think about my own life and ministry work. I, too, have a long list of formers yet God kept and preserved me for the gospel, and at the time I didn’t even know it. Like Paul let us thank Christ Jesus our Lord who has enabled us! Give Him the glory because His Grace kept and preserved you, and UOENO it!
