We have exciting news to share about the leadership at Memphis Athletic Ministries.

Jonathan Torres, vice president and chief operating officer at MAM, will become president and chief executive officer on April 1. Torres has been with MAM since 2014. He takes the top executive role after an 18-month CEO search interrupted by COVID. Kim Cherry has served as interim CEO at MAM during that time.

Before joining MAM, Torres was urban director of ministries with Young Life Ministries, where he worked for seven years.

Most people know Torres simply by his last name.

“Torres has been instrumental in MAM’s success as he has managed 80 staff members working directly with hundreds of kids across multiple sites,” said Tread Thompson, MAM board chair. “He has provided vital spiritual leadership for this ministry that over the years has helped develop thousands of MAM kids into upstanding, productive adults. We’re excited to see what he will accomplish as CEO. The board would like to extend a special thanks to Kim Cherry for her service as interim CEO.”
