Open the Eyes of My Heart

“If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar, and showing that His Word has no place in our hearts.” I John 1:10

God’s Word penetrates to the deepest recesses of our hearts. It exposes our sin and filth, and helps us recognize how incredibly desperate we are for a Savior. His Word strips us naked and reveals our sinful motives and inmost beings. Christians, when we are saturated in God’s Word, we can easily distinguish the chasm between God and us. To be engulfed in the Word is to be shockingly aware of our sin. Oh, to identify our neediness, to understand our desperate position, to come to the realization of our deserving death is the place where we comprehend the immense love of Jesus Christ.

God, that You would constantly remind us of our hopelessness without You. Lord, that You would continually remind us of the immeasurable cost of sin. But most importantly Beloved Savior, that You would love us anyway! That You would open the eyes of the blind that they may see their sinfulness and fall to their faces and worship You, knowing that You have washed them white as snow and restored their broken love. Open our eyes, oh God, that we may see You more clearly.

Brothers and Sisters, our first step toward restoration must first be identification of our sin.

“For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23
