Overview MAM started the Memphis area's first Futsal indoor soccer program in February 2008. The purpose of the program is to attract at-risk Hispanic boys and girls, ages 8 to 18, to our programs and to broaden our services to Hispanic churches and other Hispanic community groups. Futsal soccer originated in the 1930s and the first international competition was played in the 1960s. Futsal is an exciting way to maintain and expand soccer skills while playing indoors. The game is played on a traditional basketball floor with five players on each team. Because basketball out-of-bounds lines are used for Futsal, there is a premium on learning to dribble and pass under control. The MAM Futsal League is a great opportunity to allow all levels of players the opportunity to play soccer. Our teams are co-ed. Games are played all year-round (winter, summer, spring and fall leagues) on Saturday evenings at the Memphis Grizzlies Center. MAM Leawood also holds free indoor and outdoor soccer clinics on Saturdays various times throughout the school year.
