30 Days of Prayer for the Cause of Discipleship

1. Pray for Christians in Memphis to be growing daily in Christ through prayer, scripture, and fellowship with other believers. II Peter 3:18

2. Pray for the family situations of the urban at risk kids, as they go through some really difficult times involving their families. Romans 12:1-2

3. Pray for Christians in Memphis to encourage one another, carry each other’s burdens, and work together in order to make known the Gospel of Jesus to the kids and families who cross their paths. I Thessalonians 5:14

4. Pray for God to protect churches, non-profits and ministries from scandal, violence, financial snags, division, and distractions. Romans 12:9

5. Pray for fruit and furthering of His kingdom through ministry in Memphis. John 15:8

6. Pray for discipleship groups to form that would include disciple-makers whose desire would be to spend intentional time in conversation with kids about scripture – explaining the Gospel – and that their hearts would be receptive to the Good news of Jesus. II Timothy 2:2

7. Pray for the body of Christ in Memphis to receive wisdom through time in prayer and scripture. Ephesians 1:18

8. Pray for the youth in under-resourced neighborhoods to grow in their understanding of how God has created them uniquely and individually. Psalm 139:14

9. Pray for Gospel transformation to take place in the lives of the youth in under-resourced areas of our city. Romans 12:1-2

10. Pray for the Lord to send volunteers and individuals to help mentor students in finding part time jobs. Romans 10:14-15

11. Pray for more Christian mentors to have a heart for volunteerism, and a desire to help youth learn work skills and ethics. Psalm 33:4

12. Pray for Christ to invade the hearts of youth and give them hope for a successful future. Jeremiah 29:11

13. Pray for the academic efforts across the city: Literacy Mid-South, Read to Succeed, and Accelerated Reading programs. II Timothy 2:2

14. Pray for career readiness and job training programs to be effective in leadership training, so that youth will learn how to be employable and self-sufficient. Psalm 1

15. Pray for safety in all of our gyms across the city. Proverbs 1:33

16. Pray for the various smaller sub communities (Binghampton, Orange Mound, Nutbush); that schools, churches and ministries would have a positive influence on the kids in those areas, and for the kids to carry it out to their homes. Matthew 5:13-16

17. Pray for the all sports leagues in Shelby County, that during sporting events the Gospel would be modeled, lived out, and for hearts to be changed by The Good News. Luke 10:1-3

18. Pray for the girls of our city, that they would experience God’s love through discipleship, and that they would know and understand how they are deeply loved by The Lord. Proverbs 31:10

19. Pray for the boys of our city to learn how to be leaders who are proactive and productive in their homes and communities. Psalm 1

20. Pray for the churches in our city, especially Leawood Baptist, Olivet Fellowship, and St. Andrew A.M.E, that their congregations would develop a vison and passion for making disciples. II Tim 3:14-15

21. Pray that the Lord would continue to provide financial support for disciple-making organizations, and for generous champions who are passionate about the mission and vision of making disciples. Philippians 4:9

22. Pray that the youth of our city would continue to be attracted to participate in Christ-Centered programs focused on life skills and growing in their faith. II Thessalonians 1:3

23. Pray for Seeding Success, a local organization whose mission is to ensure every child graduates high school prepared for college, a career, and success in life. Proverbs 4:7

24. Pray for all teachers in the Memphis area, that their time spent with the students during and after school would be impactful and beneficial for the youth’s success. Ephesians 1:8

25. Pray that all Christians in Shelby County would embrace the freedom to go above and beyond their job descriptions. Psalm 100:2

26. Pray that we, as Christ followers and disciple-makers, would consider each other family; that we would be quick to acknowledge our own mistakes, and would be quick to forgive each other. Matthew 18:21

27. Pray that the Lord would continue to provide partnerships among like-minded youth development organizations to better accomplish and further the cause of disciple-making. Acts 1:8

28. Pray that we would carefully evaluate every decision that we make in light of God’s word and its impact on the cause of making disciples. Joshua 1:8

29. Pray that, as Christ followers, we would be emotionally and spiritually committed to using every resource available to make disciples. Luke 22:42

30. Pray that above all else, everything that is done in and through Memphis Athletic Ministries brings glory to God the Father himself, and honors the call to make disciples. Matthew 28:18-20
