Alfonso honored with leader award

Vince Alfonso Jr., director of golf for Memphis Athletic Ministries, has been chosen by his peers for the 2010 Junior Golf Leader Award for the Tennessee section, as well as the West Tennessee chapter of the Tennessee section.

The Junior Golf Leader Award recognizes a PGA professional who is a leader in junior golf, reflects the qualities and ideals of those who work with our nation’s youth, and provides opportunities and experiences for juniors to learn and play golf.

Alfonso is being recognized for the efforts he has made to grow the junior program at Memphis Athletic Ministries Park Golf Course, and throughout the Memphis community.

“I am truly humbled to be recognized among my peers in the Tennessee Section of the PGA,” Alfonso said. “I am blessed that through my position at MAM that I am able to teach boys and girls who ordinarily would not have the chance to learn golf and its life lessons.”
